Get Your Tickets to Lea Salonga’s Star-Studded Concert with the Next Disney Princess

Published

Everyone knows Lea Salonga as the Disney Legend who provided the vocals of Disney Princesses Jasmine and Fa Mulan in Aladdin and Mulan. Apart from her work with the Walt Disney Company, she has stunned audiences worldwide for her Tony Award-winning runs in Broadway and the West End for her role as Kim in Miss Saigon, and both Eponine and Fantine in Les Miserables. Now, the legend is crowning a new Disney Princess at the upcoming Disney Princess: I Dare to Dream gala concert!

The concert is the finale of Globe Studios’ I Dare to Dream, a first-of-its-kind, digital reality series in collaboration with Disney and Maker Studios, that will search for the next Disney Princess from a group of six young girls. Salonga will award the winner during the event, and will headline the concert featuring Disney classics.

“Globe has always committed itself to creating original digital content to complement the brand’s fast internet speeds, and the rapidly-changing ways Filipinos are consuming entertainment,” says Executive Producer and Globe Retail Transformation and Stores Management Advisor Joe Caliro. “But we feel an initiative of this magnitude shouldn’t end digitally. We want to end it with a bang, with a live concert featuring Lea Salonga and the country’s best singers.”

Apart from Salonga, the star-studded concert will also performances with Christian Bautista, KC Concepcion, Erik Santos, Julie Ann San Jose, Sam Concepcion, Morissette Amon, Aicelle Santos, Tippy Dos Santos, and Janina Vela.

I Dare to Dream is inspired by Disney Princesses, whose stories have moved both children and adults throughout the years. For the show, Globe Studios handpicked six young girls out of hundreds who auditioned, whose personalities and values reflect that of Disney princesses. The six girls will stay in one house and undergo fun challenges while enjoying a mentorship program.

The six selected girls are Sirach Catipay, an aspiring chef who wants to share the world’s cuisines with the Filipino people; Stephanie Jordan, a singing competition contestant who wants to enter the world of hosting; Hyacinth Leonado, who dreams of becoming a Broadway singer and actress; Jaden Narvios, who wants to be the president of the Philippines; Liana San Diego, who wants to be a veterinarian; and Alexi Tan, who dreams of becoming an animator.

The girls will be mentored by Ms. Salonga, along with experts in the respective fields the girls dream of entering: chef Jessie Sincioco, YouTuber and host Charisma Star, theater actress Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, social educator Efren Peñaflorida, veterinarian Dr. Nielsen Donato, and animator Tito Romero. The girls will be joined by vlogger Janina Vela, who will serve as the guiding elder sister.

“I Dare to Dream hopes to inspire girls that there are other young ladies like them, who do not necessarily fit in any of society’s molds,” ends Caliro. “It hope to show that one day, you can share the stage with someone like Lea Salonga and turn your dreams into a reality.”

The winner will also have the chance to take the trip of a lifetime: to walk the red carpet premiere of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast in Tokyo, Japan.

The I Dare to Dream concert will be held on March 22, 2017 at the SM MOA Arena. Tickets are available for purchase at www.smtickets.com. You can fully experience the magic of Disney Princess: I Dare To Dream on www.idaretodream.ph.

Deadliest Rescue Mission in “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” Begins January 24 Nationwide

Published

on

From (L-R), Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jacob Lofland, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dylan O'Brien, Rosa Salazar, and Dexter Darden star in Twentieth Century Fox's "Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

Action reaches new heights in this mission-oriented third and final segment of The Maze Runner Series, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure.” The Wes Ball-directed adaptation of the bestselling James Dashner YA trilogy is a 20th Century Fox production. The screenplay was written by T.S. Nowlin. Producers are Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of The Gotham Group, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Productions Joe Hartwick, Jr., Wes Ball, and Lee Stollman.

“Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” picks up roughly six months after the Scorch Trials ended. In the final battle of The Scorch the survivors of The Flare, a disease that has devastated the world’s population, have defined their purpose; to find a safe haven away from the influence of WCKD. This exciting conclusion of the Maze Runner trilogy reunites many of the original cast members from 2014’s The Maze Runner; Dylan O’Brien as Thomas; Kaya Scodelario as Teresa; Ki Hong Lee as Minho; Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt; Dexter Darden as Frypan and Patricia Clarkson as Dr. Ava Paige along with newer cast members from Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials; Giancarlo Esposito as Jorge, Rosa Salazar as Brenda, Aidan Gillen as Janson, Barry Pepper as Vince and Walton Goggins as Lawrence.

Uncertain if this “last city” had even survived, the “Gladers” knew that somehow gaining entry would be difficult. To then break in to the WKCD headquarters where Minho was being held, that was impossible. For Thomas, setting difficult goals was not unusual. As Dylan O’Brien says of his character, “In the first movie the challenge was to solve the maze, to break out of the glade. A big part of the group, led by Gally, wanted no part of that. They looked at the glade as their home and they were safe. In Scorch Trials we were out of the maze, had a building to live in and were taken care of but there was a price to pay. In this film, in Death Cure, Thomas wants to break in to the place that caused all of this to save his friend Minho, which he promised he’d do. Most thought it was a crazy plan.”

The final chapter gets even more WCKD in IMAX screens with the movie having an expanded ratio of 26% more of all scenes than the average cinemas. That’s 26% more of the action, suspense, and adventure! Coupled with IMAX’s gigantic screen, crystal-clear images, and powerful digital audio, it will feel like you’re truly part of the action.

End the final Mazer runner in the theatres where movies come alive – IMAX and SM Cinema! Book your tickets now on to www.smcinema.com. Download the SM Cinema app now through the App store and Google Play. For more information follow /SMCinema on facebook and @SM_Cinema on Instagram

No friend is left behind when “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” opens January 24 in all cinemas and in all IMAX screens nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Blockbuster Producer Behind Chris Hemsworth’s “12 Strong”

Published

on

From blockbuster filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer (“Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, “Black Hawk Down”), Chris Hemsworth (“Thor,” “The Avengers” films) and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road,” “Nocturnal Animals”) star in “12 Strong,” a powerful new war drama based on the best-selling book Horse Soldiers.

“12 Strong” is a story of heroism based on true events that unfolded a world away in the aftermath of 9/11. Inspired by the true story of the harrowing aftermath of 9/11, the war drama “12 Strong” sees Chris Hemsworth as Captain Mitch Nelson and his small band of U.S. Special Forces soldiers (which include Michal Shannon, Michael Pena, and Trevante Rhodes) as they are sent into Afghanistan to hunt down the Taliban terrorists and their Al Qaeda brethren for orchestrating and executing the attack on the United States back in 2001.

Overcoming cultural differences in a foreign land, once in Afghanistan, the soldiers soon find that they won’t be able to rely on their high-tech gear or any back-up in order to complete this mission. They eventually joined forces with Northern Alliance General Dostum (played by Navid Negahban) and his band of Afghani soldiers in order to fight this common enemy. Fighting against an insurmountable number of adversaries, the U.S. Special Forces soldiers rode to war on horses along with their new allies in order to strike a group who’s a common enemy also terrorizing people in Afghanistan for years.

“With Special Forces guys they embed themselves in a community over a course of months or years, and there’s a diplomatic duty and relationship-building within these communities to achieve their outcome…the bigger challenge and the talent of what these guys achieved was the relationship they formed with Dostum [played by Navid Negahban], the warlord that were fighting with, and getting him to trust them and leveraging centuries-old blood feuds between these tribes and convince them to understand we’re all fighting the same enemy,” says Hemsworth of the film.

Additionally, Bruckheimer was hooked by the project, “The mission itself is totally unique. Furthermore, we haven’t seen these kind of soldiers in action in a big movie like this for sometime. It’s the first time Hollywood’s made a movie about the Special Forces since The Green Berets. They’re a really special group and they should be memorialized.”

“12 Strong” will open in cinemas on January 17 from Pioneer Films.
