TALENTED NEWCOMER MCKENNA GRACE TAKES TITULAR ROLE IN “GIFTED”

Published

on

An impressive ensemble of actors led by Chris Evans along with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, Lindsay Duncan and Jenny Slate support young multi-talented actress McKenna Grace as she takes on the titular role in director Marc Webb’s “Gifted.”

Evans plays Frank Adler, uncle and guardian of Mary (Grace) in “Gifted” who both lead normal lives until Evelyn (Duncan), Frank’s mom and Mary’s grandmother, decides to take custody of her grandchild. Frank’s sister entrusted him to raise Mary after she died for fear that her daughter might also be subjected to the pressures she’s been through as a prodigy. But as soon as Evelyn finds out about Mary’s intellectual state, Frank finds himself in a custody battle to keep Mary under his care.

McKenna Grace & Chris Evans- GIFTED movie

On finding the right child-actor, director Webb insists there was a good reason for the massive search: “I couldn’t have made “Gifted” unless I found the right Mary Adler. It was the biggest hurdle to making the movie. There’s an emotional depth and sophistication you don’t see very often in an actor, but for a child, that’s a level of virtuosity that is incredibly rare.”

Mckenna remembers it was very stressful meeting Marc Webb for the first time. “They had given me the wrong sides (scenes) to read, so he just gave them to me in the hallway. I had five minutes to memorize them. But once the audition was over, we just talked and had a fun time. I wanted this movie more than any movie I’ve ever wanted.” She says that she and Webb “had an amazing connection together. He was the perfect director for this job because we needed someone with a big, caring, loving, heart. He let me take my time when there was a crying scene. I would walk in, and he’d sit by the camera and he would cry with me, so then I didn’t really feel alone.”

Mckenna says she also learned a lot from working with Evans. “He was very focused on the set, and sometimes he would sit down and help me with my script.” Evans treated her “more like a friend, like he treats Mary. I really like that he treated me that way, except he did try not to say bad words around me.”

Mckenna proves that she has a different kind of perspective, genius or not. When asked what the message in “Gifted” means to her, she gives a most moving and simple answer: “At the end of the day, no one can tell you if your family is perfect or not. You may just have a mom, or you may just live with your daddy, or two moms and two dads, or you may live with your grandparents, or you may have an uncle like Mary does. People say that the perfect family has to have a mom and dad, a big amazing house and a lot of money. But as long as you have a loving, caring person that you live with, then I think that’s perfect for you.”

“Gifted” opens May 3 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Deadliest Rescue Mission in “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” Begins January 24 Nationwide

From (L-R), Katherine McNamara, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jacob Lofland, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dylan O'Brien, Rosa Salazar, and Dexter Darden star in Twentieth Century Fox's "Maze Runner: The Death Cure."

Action reaches new heights in this mission-oriented third and final segment of The Maze Runner Series, “Maze Runner: The Death Cure.” The Wes Ball-directed adaptation of the bestselling James Dashner YA trilogy is a 20th Century Fox production. The screenplay was written by T.S. Nowlin. Producers are Ellen Goldsmith-Vein of The Gotham Group, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Productions Joe Hartwick, Jr., Wes Ball, and Lee Stollman.

“Maze Runner: The Death Cure,” picks up roughly six months after the Scorch Trials ended. In the final battle of The Scorch the survivors of The Flare, a disease that has devastated the world’s population, have defined their purpose; to find a safe haven away from the influence of WCKD. This exciting conclusion of the Maze Runner trilogy reunites many of the original cast members from 2014’s The Maze Runner; Dylan O’Brien as Thomas; Kaya Scodelario as Teresa; Ki Hong Lee as Minho; Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt; Dexter Darden as Frypan and Patricia Clarkson as Dr. Ava Paige along with newer cast members from Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials; Giancarlo Esposito as Jorge, Rosa Salazar as Brenda, Aidan Gillen as Janson, Barry Pepper as Vince and Walton Goggins as Lawrence.

Uncertain if this “last city” had even survived, the “Gladers” knew that somehow gaining entry would be difficult. To then break in to the WKCD headquarters where Minho was being held, that was impossible. For Thomas, setting difficult goals was not unusual. As Dylan O’Brien says of his character, “In the first movie the challenge was to solve the maze, to break out of the glade. A big part of the group, led by Gally, wanted no part of that. They looked at the glade as their home and they were safe. In Scorch Trials we were out of the maze, had a building to live in and were taken care of but there was a price to pay. In this film, in Death Cure, Thomas wants to break in to the place that caused all of this to save his friend Minho, which he promised he’d do. Most thought it was a crazy plan.”

The final chapter gets even more WCKD in IMAX screens with the movie having an expanded ratio of 26% more of all scenes than the average cinemas. That’s 26% more of the action, suspense, and adventure! Coupled with IMAX’s gigantic screen, crystal-clear images, and powerful digital audio, it will feel like you’re truly part of the action.

End the final Mazer runner in the theatres where movies come alive – IMAX and SM Cinema! Book your tickets now on to www.smcinema.com. Download the SM Cinema app now through the App store and Google Play. For more information follow /SMCinema on facebook and @SM_Cinema on Instagram

No friend is left behind when “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” opens January 24 in all cinemas and in all IMAX screens nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing’s law enforcement is only exacerbated. A last stand erupts in as a mother is pushed to the edge by her daughter’s unsolved murder.

Guillermo Del Toro merges the pathos and thrills of the classic monster movie tradition with shadowy film noir, then stirring in the heat of a love story like no other to explore the fantasies we all flirt with, the mysteries we can’t control and the monstrosities we must confront. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg.
