10 Truths Every Facebook Addict Will Secretly Admit To

Published

on

Facebook has become so much a part of our life that it’s so prevalent across the world. With billion active users out there, one can easily throw a stone and hit a Facebook user.

When Mark Zuckerberg and the four other founders conceptualized Facebook, they meant it to keep in touch with friends. Little did they know that for some or most of us, it would become the very essence of life itself. At a time when psychologists are actually considering Internet Addiction Disorder being counted as a legit disorder, Facebook addiction is not a laughing matter.

1. Notifications Or Nothing!

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. For the FB addict, it is the sight of unread notifications that never fails to captivate us. We don’t care if it’s a lame invite to some party not even in our city or it’s someone requesting us to ‘like’ some random page – we love notifications!

2. Everyday I’m Scrolling

We don’t need to check Facebook much – except for right in the morning; right before going to bed at night – and every hour in between. Just while we are on the metro, or the pot or at work.

3. Check-in! Check-in! Check-in!

Visiting a new restaurant? Check in. At the theaters? Check in. Traveling somewhere? Check in. You get the idea. We do not think it is oversharing; we just love to keep our peeps in the loop.

4. What Is This “I’m Not On Facebook” That You Speak Of?

The first thing we do after getting acquainted with someone new is ‘friend’ them on Facebook. And if they say they do not have an FB profile, we actually take a moment to process it. Not being on Facebook is like someone saying they have gills or they can only see in one color. Because it is plain weird.

5. FOMO – That Struggle Is Real

One day you’re not on Facebook, and 4 people get married, 3 get into new relationships and one friend breaks up. And by the time you go ‘OMG’, it is already old news. Only Facebook addicts know the real fear of missing out.

6. The Friendship Count

The logic is simple—people with more friends than us have no standards; people with less friends than us are losers. It’s all relative, my dear Watson.

7. It’s Not Just About Gossip

We do not need to read the newspapers; we get our dope on our newsfeed and our ‘trending’ columns. Weather updates, natural calamities, sports updates and what have you – everything gets to us faster through friends’ updates than news sites.

8. Best. App. Ever.

The first app we download when we buy a new phone is inevitably Facebook. And then Facebook Messenger. Because…you know!

9. Pose. Click. Post. Repeat.

Our sole reason for taking pictures is to upload them on Facebook. Instagrammed selfies, oodles of food porn and even classy photography – everything MUST be posted on Facebook, otherwise they are a total waste.

10. Stalkers In Disguise

Yes, we are all stalkers – and Facebook is just the place to let loose the madness. Ex-lovers, mutual friends and haters – everyone is prey to our prying clicks. Some of us admit it, most of us don’t.
